Dordogne & Paris Spectator Short
VIP access to 3 stages, Tour finish in Paris
This trip is our most upgraded and luxurious option for both cyclists and spectators. You will have the most and the best VIP access to the Tour de France available. We will pick up at the Toulouse airport, then head into the Pyrenees mountains. You will ride in the Pyrenees and have VIP access to the Tour at a stage start, at a stage starting line, along the course and at 2 stage finishes.
You will enjoy 4 and 5 star hotels, great meals, including a Michelin star restaurant and the best guide to guest ratio in the business. Another highlight is the finish of the Tour in Paris. You will be in the Rive Gauche VIP venue, located near the finish line. This venue has outstanding French food, open bar, champagne and a gift from the Tour de France organizers.
You will experience a very high level of support during your rides. As always, we allow non-cycling partners on our trips and they will enjoy the same VIP access to the race. We can’t wait for you to join us!
Welcome to France! We will be picking up at the Toulouse airport (TLS) in the afternoon. We check into our hotel, get fitted for your bike and take a short ride to shake off the dust from traveling.
We will enjoy our group welcome dinner and get acquainted.
Each guest will receive gifts from Custom Getaways, including a cycling jersey, and a gift from the Tour de France. You will also receive a discount card for 30% off official le Tour merchandise.
This morning we’ll check out of our hotel and transfer into the Pyrenees. We’ll make a stop in Saint Gaudens, which is the start city for today’s stage. This will be Saint Gauden’s 16th time hosting the Tour de France. A popular city for a Tour de France start. Our VIP venue is at the Start Village. You’ll enjoy finger foods, drinks and will be able to view the racers line up as they are announced for the start of Stage 17.
After the racers depart, you will get a small lunch in town, then gear up for our ride. Today’s distance will be between 40 and 60 kilometers and less than 700 meters of elevation gain. We always offer different riding distances for our guests, so you will feel comfortable with the speed and distance of the rides.
The guide to guest ratio is lower than other cycling trips offered and your guides provide a high level of support during your rides. In addition, all rides include drinks, water, energy bars, gels, etc. A sag van will follow the riders for support during most rides.
Your 5-star hotel will be home for the next two nights. The hotel offers a spa…a great way to relax at the end of a busy day. Dinner is on your own tonight, so you can stroll the town and find a cool place with some of your new friends. The town will be bustling as the Tour begins tomorrow in Lourdes.
With the start of today’s stage just a 10 minute walk, we will enjoy the energy of the crowd and the start of the race. Once the pros depart, we will have a VIP experience of starting our ride from the start line. This is a unique participation and the distance for today’s ride will be in the 35-60 kilometer range with around 1,200 meters of elevation gain.
The afternoon is yours to explore Lourdes and the culture that is connected to this town. The world famous grotto is close to your hotel and is a beautiful setting along the river. We suggest walking a little past the main tourist area to find some great, local restaurants with unique cuisine.
Tonight will be a group dinner at our upscale hotel restaurant.
Since we rode from the start yesterday, we will ride to the finish today. Following an early breakfast, we’ll pack up and transfer north out of the Pyrenees. Approximately 40-60 kilometers from today’s finish line, we will begin our ride. We will have the honor of riding across the finish line, in the town of Cahors, before the pros. We will celebrate our victory with a tour of the official podium and taking pictures.
After the podium, we will enter the Izoard VIP venue to view the finish of the stage. This venue is located near the finish line and offers finger food, soft drinks, beer, wine and champagne. It also features TVs, air-conditioning and private restrooms…a great way to view the race!
We’ll top off the day staying the night in a beautiful medieval castle, which overlooks the picturesque valley and Cahors vineyards. The castle was built in the 13th century; therefore, does not offer air conditioning.
This hotel highlights a Michelin star restaurant, where we will enjoy a beautiful dinner together.
Following breakfast, fit for a royal, we’ll again have the opportunity to enjoy another race viewing VIP. Since this is flatter terrain, we will ride between 45 and 65 kilometers, under 500 meters of elevation gain where we will enjoy the views of this unique region.
For the guests who are non-cycling, you will enjoy a tour of the local winery or a truffle tasting. The region is know for their truffles. The group will all meet up at the VIP venue.
Relais Etape is the name of today’s race venue. You will be served a 4-course meal with soft drinks, beer, wine and champagne. There are TV’s and commentators to describe the action (mostly in French) until the racers pass in front of us. The atmosphere is electric in anticipation of the racers and their entourage. Because this is the final Individual Time Trial, racers will pass in a fairly constant pattern as they make their way to the finish line. You’ll receive a gift from the Tour as you depart the venue.
After the race has finished, we will make the 6 hour transfer to Paris. We’ll stop along the way for comfort stops and will arrive at our Parisian hotel after midnight.
After a late arrival, you’ll enjoy free time in Paris this morning. Your hotel is ideally located….only a few blocks from the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées.
We will meet and walk as a group to the Eiffel Tower, where we will have an excellent lunch with magnificent views of Paris.
After lunch, we will get our steps in as we stroll to our VIP on the Champs-Élysées. This trip includes the Rive Gauche VIP Venue, the high-end venue close to the finish line. Custom Getaways has a privatized area with our own chef and servers and a terrace on the rails to get an excellent view of the race as it passes on the famous Champs-Élysées. French food and an open bar make this the best place to see the finish of the Tour. You will also receive a gift from le Tour organizers. The racers will pass directly in front of you 8 times and 8 times on the other side of the famed, cobble-stoned road…an experience you won’t soon forget.
Check out of your hotel by noon or extend you stay in the City of Light.
Guests are responsible for their transfers to their next destination.
