Weekend in Paris for the Grand finale
Our packages with VIP access let you live the greatest races in cycling from the inside. Imagine riding across the finish line on closed roads with crowds cheering you on, climbing the official podium or taking a selfie with your favorite rider! You've dreamed of a trip to the Tour de France, the Giro in Italy or the Vuelta a España; we can help you make it happen in the comfort of VIP venues!
This is a cycling trip that features some of the most iconic regions of France: the Alps and the finish of le Tour in Paris. You also get to spend a little time in the Geneva, Switzerland area.
This trip offers amazing cycling in the Alps including climbs such as Alpe d’Huez and Col de Sarenne. You will also have the opportunity to cross the finish line and have pictures on the podium. We will enjoy VIP access to the race at the start, along the course and at a stage finish.
Non-riders are welcome on our cycling trips and will enjoy the same VIP access. This trip includes a VIP venue on the Champs Élysées in Paris to view the final stage and a dinner cruise on the River Seine after the race ends in Paris.
Welcome to France! In the early afternoon, we will pick up at the Grenoble (Gare de Grenoble) train station. From there, we’ll make our way to our hotel on the famous Alpe d’Huez. Your guides will help assemble your bike or help get your bike fitted (for those renting) and the group will go for a short ride of about 20-30 kilometers to shake off the dust from traveling.
You will find our guides to be excellent cyclists and a pleasure to be around. Our team of guides has been incredibly stable and is among the most experienced in the industry!
At our welcome dinner, we will get acquainted with our fellow group members and the guides will go over the plan for the upcoming week. You will receive a Tour de France gift bag which will include a cycling jersey from Custom Getaways and a road book from le Tour.
We will start the day with a ride through the Alps, descending Alpe d’Huez riding around the back and making the climb up the Col de Sarenne. Although the ride is only 52 kms, you drop from 1996 meters to 715, then back up to 1996, so we will have over 1,500 meters of elevation gain.
You will have the afternoon free on Alpe d’Huez to relax and explore the area.
The Start Village in Grenoble will be our destination this morning. The Start Village is always a favorite of our guests. You will have VIP access to the sponsor area with food and coffee, the sign-in stage and the team bus paddock. Bring your cameras…this is a great opportunity to get pictures of your favorite riders as you will be able to walk among the team buses and see riders up close.
After grabbing a light lunch, we will be starting our ride back up the world famous Alpe d’Huez climb. It is 64 kilometers back to our hotel and the feeling of accomplishment is amazing after conquering this iconic, 21 switchback climb. Elevation gain is about 1300 meters.
We will meet up later tonight where we’ll enjoy another group dinner featuring local cuisine.
Today is a real treat. We will ride on the course to our next location called Relais Etape for lunch and to watch the race. This will be a flat to hilly ride of nearly 90 kilometers.
Relais Etape is a VIP hospitality tent set up along the course. The caravan throws out small prizes before the racers arrive and to help to build an electric atmosphere. We will be served an excellent, 4-course lunch with wine and champagne to toast the winner. The Tour de France also provides a gift to each guest in the Relais Etape tent.
After the finish of the stage, we will make our way to Geneva, Switzerland area where we will check-in to our hotel, located on the shores of Lake Geneva. You will have the evening free to relax and enjoy the hotel and property. The hotel has a beach bar with music and drinks as well as a restaurant with local cuisine.
We will enjoy scenic views all morning today as we ride towards the finish of today’s stage in Champagnole. We will ride on the course and cross the finish line as a group! This will be another hilly ride of about 80 kilometers. After crossing the line, we will have the opportunity to claim the podium and get pictures to memorialize our victory. We’ll enjoy the finish of today’s stage in the cheering crowds of the climb.
After lunch, we will enter the Izoard VIP venue. This area is located close to the finish line and has air-conditioning, private restrooms, food, drinks, and TVs to follow the action. This is a great way to watch the race until the racers pass right in front of you on the way to the finish line!
Following the stage, we’ll enjoy a relaxing group dinner at our hotel.
This morning, we will be heading to Paris via our motorcoach. We will depart early as we have a six hour drive to the City of Lights.
Upon arriving in Paris, you’ll be ready to stretch your legs. You’ll have the rest of the day to sightsee and the possibilities are endless. If you’d rather, you can watch the finish of today’s stage at a local restaurant/bar or relax in your beautiful hotel.
We will be staying in a great location close to the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs Élysées and a metro station.
You will have the morning free to rest or do more sight-seeing in Paris. At 3:00 PM the grandstands and hospitality tents will open. Access to the Izoard hospitality venue is included in your package. This VIP venue has food, TVs, beer, champagne toast and a great location at the bottom of the Champs Élysées.
You will have an excellent vantage point from which to view the finish of the 2020 Tour de France. You will see the riders pass in front of you 8 times on the Champs Élysées.
After the finish, we will walk over to the River Seine for a dinner cruise. This is a great way to finish our trip with outstanding scenery, great food, wine and new friends.
Check-out of your hotel by noon or extend you stay in the City of Lights! Guests are responsible for their own transfer from the hotel. There is an airport shuttle bus located very close to your hotel if needed. We hope to see you again soon.
