This trip is for spectators, people who love cycling, but don’t want to ride on this trip. It will cover the important final stages of the 2019 Vuelta a España from the mountain stages in central Spain, then onto the final stage through the streets of Madrid. This package offers outstanding VIP access to the race and to great sightseeing in Spain!
The race takes place on some of the most interesting locations in Spain including the mountains in central Spain, Avila and Madrid. This trip offers the best value and lowest price for any week-long spectator trip we have offered for many years. Please speak with your family, friends or cycling club about a trip to Spain this year to take advantage of this unique opportunity!
We will be picking up at the Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suárez Airport (MAD) in the afternoon and driving to our hotel. Once we check-in to our modern hotel, you can explore the area or rest from your travels before dinner.
We will enjoy a group, welcome dinner where our guides will explain the plan for the coming week and we will receive the official Vuelta a España road book and a gift from Custom Getaways.
Today starts with a tour to the Palacio del Infantado in Guadalajara. This 15th century palace has one of the most unique architectural styles of any palace in Europe. After the tour, you will have time to explore the shops and restaurants surrounding the palace before we head to the finish area for a VIP viewing of the race. The VIP venue offers snacks, drinks and TVs to watch the race before the racers pass in front of us on their way to the finish line!
Since the finish of today’s stage will be in the same town as our hotel, we will be able to walk back to our hotel. You can explore the area and find a place for dinner with some of your new friends.
Gorgeous scenery today as the race winds through hills and olive trees surrounding Madrid. This will be a mountain stage with a really cool setting! We will find a place for lunch and head into the VIP venue to view the finish of today’s stage. The VIP area serves snacks and drinks, has TVs to follow the race and offers private restrooms. It is a great way to see the race!
Following the end of the stage, we will drive to our new hotel located within the walls of Avila where will enjoy a group dinner featuring local cuisine.
Today we visit the start village in Avila, the town where we are staying. We will make our way to the village, where you can watch the riders sign in for the day, walk around the team bus area and see the start of the race. Our VIP passes will allow us to be close to the starting line as the pros depart.
This is always one of the favorite activities for our guests as you see the racers come out of the team buses and jump on their bikes. Some guests get autographs and pictures with the pros.
After the racers depart, we will drive to Segovia, a beautiful town where we will tour the Segovia Aqueduct, a 2,000 year old structure built by the Romans to bring water from the nearby mountains to the town. This structure is featured on the Euro currency, so many of you may recognize it. We will explore the town before heading back to Avila.
This morning we will depart our hotel and drive toward the finish of today’s stage at Platform de Gredos. Today will be a very important stage as it is the last mountain stage before Madrid. There will be some exciting attacks as the racers look to make a move in the GC!
We will have access to the VIP venue near the finish line again to view the race in comfort. After the finish, we will head to our next hotel in central Madrid, where you can explore the area and find a place for tapas or local dinner.
Everyone will have the morning free to explore Madrid…the Prado Museum, Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor…the possibilities are endless!
In the afternoon, we will head to the finish of this year’s Vuelta a España. We will be able to view this exciting final stage finish in the Neptuno VIP area. This venue is located close to the finish line and has food, drinks, open bar, TVs and comfortable seating to enjoy this experience.
After the race, we will enjoy an amazing farewell dinner with all of our new friends.
This morning we will be departing the hotel at 07:00am with an approximate arrival to the Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suárez Airport (MAD) at 08:00am. If you’d rather, you can always extend your stay in Madrid. The Madrid-Puerta de Atocha train station is within walking distance to the hotel.
Safe travels and we hope to see you again.
