This is a cycling trip that features some of the most iconic regions of France: Provence, the Alps and the finish of the Tour in Paris. This trip offers amazing cycling in Provence and the Alps including climbs such as Mont Ventoux and Col du Galibier! You will also have the opportunity to cross the finish line and have pictures on the podium. We will enjoy VIP access to the race at the start, along the course and at a stage finish. There will also be a helicopter transfer from a mountain top finish back to our Chateau. Non-riders are welcome as well and will enjoy the same VIP Access. This trip includes a VIP hospitality tent on the Champs Élysées in Paris to view the final stage. This VIP venue features catered food, open bar, champagne, TVs, private restrooms, etc. After food and drinks, you will be able to view the racers pass by 8 times in the grand stand seating on the Champs Élysées. Following the end of the race, we also include a dinner cruise on the Seine. What a great way to end the 2019 Tour de France!
We will be picking up at the Avignon TGV train station in the early afternoon and will make our way to our historic, 5-star hotel in the city center. We will check-in and get fitted for our bikes and will take a short ride to test the bike fit and to shake off the dust from traveling.
Our guides are excellent cyclists and a pleasure to be around. They will help with bike assembly and fitting our rental bikes to your specs. Our team of guides has been incredibly stable and is among the most experienced in the industry!
At our welcome dinner, we will get acquainted with our fellow group members and the guides will go over the plan for the upcoming days. You will receive a Tour de France gift bag which will include a cycling jersey from Custom Getaways, a gift from le Tour and the very popular Tour de France road book.
We will start the day with a ride through the countryside of Provence. Nimes is the location for today’s circuit stage.
After lunch, we will enter the Izoard VIP venue. Our VIP area is located close to the finish line and has air-conditioning, food, drinks, and TVs to follow the action. This is a great way to watch the race until the racers pass right in front of you on the way to the finish line!
After the stage ends, we will drive to our hotel in Avignon where you will be free to explore the city and find a place for dinner.
Today we will do some serious riding as we tackle the Giant of Provence, Mont Ventoux! Although the ride will only be roughly 60 kms, we will gain over 2,000 meters in elevation today. This climb has been featured in many Tour de France stages. Most recently in 2016 when Chris Froome crashed into a motorcycle and ran up the mountain carrying his bike.
Following our ride, we’ll continue our transfer to our next hotel…a beautiful Chateau in the countryside of the Alps.
You can relax and unwind before being served a gourmet French dinner.
Today is a real treat. We will ride over 55 kms today through a few valleys then up the amazing climb of the Col du Galibier at 2,642 meters. After the climb, we will ride down to our VIP venue, Relais Etape, for lunch and to watch the race live.
Relais Etape is a VIP hospitality tent set up along the course. The caravan throws out small, fun prizes before the racers arrive and to help to build an electric atmosphere. We will be served an excellent, 4-course lunch with wine and champagne to toast the winner. The Tour de France provides a gift to each guest in the Relais Etape tent.
After the finish of the stage, we will drive back to our Chateau to rest up for tomorrow.
We will enjoy scenic views all morning today as we ride through the Alps again and up the climb of Montee de Tignes. We will gain almost 1,500 meters in elevation as we make our way to the finish line. We will ride across the finish line and take pictures on the official podium.
After the podium, we will have time to eat lunch before viewing the finish of today’s stage in the Izoard VIP venue. This will be a spectacular mountain top finish! Our mountain top helicopter transfer to the Chateau will help us avoid traffic.
Get ready for another amazing dinner tonight from chef Raymond.
We will start the day with a visit to the start village in Albertville. This is always a favorite of our guests. You will have VIP access to the sponsor area with food and coffee, the sign-in stage and the team bus area. Bring your cameras and sharpies. The start village is a great opportunity to get pictures of your favorite riders.
After grabbing some lunch, we will be heading to the train station for our train to Paris.
In Paris, you will have the evening free to explore and find a place for dinner. We will be staying in a great location close to the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs Élysées and a Metro station.
You will have the morning free to rest or do more sight-seeing in Paris. At 3:00 PM our VIP hospitality tent will open. You will be able to hang out in the tent with catered food, an open bar and TVs before heading to our seats on the Champs Élysées.
You will have an excellent vantage point from which to view the finish of the 2019 Tour de France. You will see the riders pass in front of you 8 times on the Champs Élysées!
After the champagne toast to the winner, we will walk over to the River Seine for a dinner cruise. This is a great way to finish our trip with great food, wine, music, views and new friends.
Check out of your hotel by noon or extend you stay in the City of Lights! There is an airport shuttle bus located very close to your hotel if needed. We hope to see you again soon.
