3 Star Paris Weekend
Weekend in Paris for the Grand finale
Our packages with VIP access let you live the greatest races in cycling from the inside. Imagine riding across the finish line on closed roads with crowds cheering you on, climbing the official podium or taking a selfie with your favorite rider! You've dreamed of a trip to the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia or the Vuelta a España; we can help you make it happen in the comfort of VIP venues!
The 2019 Tour de France will start in Brussels with 2 stages featuring this historic city. Stage 2 will be very exciting with a team time trial through the streets of Brussels that you will view from our VIP area near the finish line. You will also attend the team presentation, visit team hotels and have VIP access to the start village of the Grand Depart. This trip is designed for non-cyclists, so it is perfect for anyone who loves pro cycling and wants to experience the start of the Tour de France! We will visit more cool towns like Bruges, breweries or champagne tours than we typically are able to do on our other trips. This trip is an unusual combination of outstanding access to the Tour de France and great sightseeing in Belgium and the Champagne region of northern France!
We will be picking up at the Brussels/Bruxelles Midi train station in the early afternoon. Before the team presentation, we will explore the town and soak up the excitement. We will watch the team presentation, which is always a spectacular show! Following the presentation, we’ll enjoy our welcome dinner and get to know each other.
You will all receive gifts from Custom Getaways as well as an official road book from the Tour de France. You will also receive a card for 25% off official Tour merchandise.
There is always a day between the team presentation and the start of the Tour de France.
We will grab our official road books and head out to some of the teams hotels and try to catch the riders as they leave for their practice rides. This is a great opportunity to see the racers in a more relaxed mood. Team mechanics and officials may give away team water bottles or let us tour the mechanic’s bus if we’re lucky.
We will drive to Bruges in the afternoon and do a brewery or canal tour together. You will have the afternoon and evening free to explore the city.
The first stage of the 2019 Tour de France will begin in Brussels, near where we have been staying.
We are very pleased to have secured VIP access to the start village for the Grand Depart of this year’s Tour. We will be able to walk “behind the lines” in the team bus area and see the team’s bikes lined up to start the race. We will also have a better view of the sign-in stage!
After the riders depart, you will be able to get some lunch before taking the afternoon to explore Brussels or relax at the hotel. We will all meet back for a group dinner.
The team time trial will be one of the highlights of this year’s Tour de France!
We have secured VIP access in the “Izoard” venue usually located 50 to 100 yards from the finish line. The Izoard is among the more exclusive areas at stage finishes where drinks and snacks are served while you watch the riders perform live as well as on the big screen TV. Champagne will be served to celebrate the winning team.
You will have free time this evening in the city to see the sights and find a cool place for dinner.
Today we transfer to the town of Reims. Reims is the capitol of the Champagne region of France. Once there, we will tour one of the famous champagne houses and have a tasting. Remember to leave some space in your luggage to take some bottles home.
The Romans quarried huge caverns out of the soft chalk soil in the area that the champagne producers still use to store bottles. These chalk caverns and the way the chalk affects the soil are some of the secrets to producing world class champagne that we will taste.
After the tour, we will check-in to our hotel and you will have the evening free to explore Reims. The world famous Reims Cathedral is located a few blocks from our hotel. This is where French kings were coronated for many years and is an excellent example of High Gothic Architecture.
Today will begin with a visit to the Verdun Memorial on the way to view the race. This marks the resting place of 100,000 soldiers who died there in World War 1 and has fascinating equipment and history from the war. After our visit, we will drive to our final VIP venue called Relais Etape. This VIP is located along the route and serves an excellent lunch with wine and champagne.
We will see the caravan/parade pass and collect as many prizes as possible as the excitement builds for the race. The racers will pass right in front of us as we cheer them to victory!
After returning to our hotel, we will enjoy our final dinner together and share memories from the last few days.
Your guides will drop you at the Gare de Reims/Reims Ville train station this morning. Reims offers excellent train service to Paris. We hope to see you again soon!
