Day 01

Benvenuti!

Date Monday, May 21 Hotel Location Trento

We will be picking up at Milan Malpensa airport (MXP) in the early afternoon and will make our way North to the Trento area.

After checking into our hotel, we will assemble or fit our rental bikes with help from our guides and go for a short ride in the area to shake the rust off from traveling.

We will enjoy a welcome dinner where our guides will explain the plan for the coming week and we will receive our official road books and gifts from the Giro and from Custom Getaways.

Day 02

Time trial viewing in VIP area

Date Tuesday, May 22 Hotel Location Trento

The cyclists will begin today with a ride on the Val d’Adige bike path that begins in the center of Trento. We will cruise on this path that runs along the Adige river before heading south to our first climb. With an elevation of 2180 meters, Monte Bondone will be a great warm up for climbs in the next few days. We will continue south to Rovereto for the viewing of today’s time trial. The long ride will be about 80 km with 3,100 meters of elevation gain.

After lunch, we will drive to Rovereto where we will be able to view the time trial in the Dante VIP area close to the finish line. This venue has snacks, drinks, prosseco and private restrooms for your comfort. There are also TVs for us to follow the race until the racers pass right in front of us!

Day 03

Franciacorta for the wine stage

Date Wednesday, May 23 Hotel Location Milan

Gorgeous scenery today as the race winds through hills and vineyards on the wine stage. We will ride along the route of today’s stage before the pros and enjoy the scenery. After our ride, we will grab some lunch before finding a place on the side of the road to watch the caravan and the racers pass by. Today’s ride will only have about 1,500 meters of elevation gain and the long ride will be approximately 90 km.

This will be the last chance for the sprinters to make a move until Rome. After the racers pass, we will jump on the bus and drive to Milan. After checking into our ideally situated hotel, Sina de la Ville, we will have dinner as a group and walk around to explore this amazing city. Our hotel has an excellent location that will allow us to be right in the middle of the old city, a few blocks away from the piazza del Duomo, where the Giro finished last year!  We will enjoy another dinner together in Milan.

Day 04

Start Village near Milan

Date Thursday, May 24 Hotel Location Milan

Today we will explore the start village and see the start of today’s stage that will be located in the city of Abbiategrasso, near Milan. We will be able to walk around the team bus area and see the racers ride to the sign in stage.

In the afternoon, we will have a shorter ride today in the countryside around Milan. We will leave after the pros depart and ride north to Lake Maggiore. This is the largest lake in Italy and has beautiful scenery. There will be a few short climbs on today’s ride to help us get ready for the big climbs tomorrow! This ride will be 54 km with 1,900 meters of elevation gain.

After our ride, we will head back to our hotel in Milan where you will be able to continue exploring  the city on your own and find a cool place for dinner.

Day 05

Ride the Alps & private viewing of stage finish on Monte Jafferau

Date Friday, May 25 Hotel Location Turin

This morning we will depart Milan and drive west toward the Alps. After we pass Turin and hit the mountains, the riders will start their ride toward today’s stage finish on Monte Jafferau. At 2805 meters, this will be a fun challenge! With over 4,000 meters of elevation gain, this ride will cover a shorter distance of 50 km.

Monte Jafferau is located near the French border, near the Col de Izoard. Before reaching us, the racers will have to negotiate Colle Delle Finestre with it’s 9 km gravel section. We will view the finish from a private viewing area located on the climb. After the finish, we will head to our next hotel in Turin where we will have a group dinner.

Day 06

On to Rome!

Date Saturday, May 26 Hotel Location Rome

This morning we will board the train for Rome. One of our guides is from the Rome area and will show us some of the sites in this ancient city. Later in the afternoon, we will check into our 4 star hotel. You should be able to watch today’s stage on TV or in the bar. It should be exciting as it is the last mountain stage and the last chance for the GC contenders to make a move.

You are free this evening to explore the city of Rome and find a place for dinner with your new friends. Don’t miss the gelato near the Trevi Fountain or the Spanish Steps!

Day 07

VIP access to race finish in Rome

Date Sunday, May 27 Hotel Location Rome

Everyone will have the morning free to explore Rome…the Colisseum, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Vatican City…the possibilities are endless!

In the afternoon, we will head to the Colisseum area for the finish of this year’s Giro d’Italia. Once again, we will be able to view this exciting final stage finish in the Dante VIP area.

After the race, we will enjoy an amazing farewell dinner with all of our new friends.
