This trip is for cyclists, but non-riding partners/friends/spouses are welcome to join the group. It will cover the important final stages of the 2019 Giro d’Italia from the mountain stages in the Dolomites, through the Veneto region, then onto the final stage through the streets of Verona. This package offers amazing cycling for the riders, incredible sightseeing for the non-riding partners and VIP access to the race for the entire group!

Day 01

Benvenuti!

Date Monday, May 27 Hotel Location Aprica

We will be picking up at Milan Malpensa airport (MXP) at 13:00/1:00pm and will make our way into the Dolomites. We will check into our hotel where we will assemble or fit our rental bikes with help from our guides and go on a short ride to shake off the dust from our travels.

We will enjoy a welcome dinner where our guides will explain the plan for the coming week and we will receive our official road books and gifts from Custom Getaways.

Day 02

Gavia Pass

Date Tuesday, May 28 Hotel Location Bolzano

We will begin our trip with some of the most demanding riding on Gavia Pass. This massive climb will be a challenge with over 1,500 meters of elevation gain. We will ride to a private viewing location where we will have lunch and excitedly wait to see the racers on the climb.

After viewing the race, we will check into our new hotel in Bolzano. You will be free to explore the town and find a place for dinner.

Day 03

Ride the Dolomites and cross finish line

Date Wednesday, May 29 Hotel Location Bolzano

The cyclists will begin today with a ride in the Dolomite mountains that will end in the stadium of Anterselva with the crowds cheering you on! You will be able to ride across the finish line as a VIP and get pictures on the podium. The long ride will be about 80 km with 2,100 meters of elevation gain.

After lunch, we will be able to view the finish of the stage in the Dante VIP area close to the finish line. This venue has snacks, drinks, prosecco and private restrooms for your comfort. There are also TVs for us to follow the race until the racers pass right in front of us!  Group dinner tonight.

Day 04

Ride the Dolomites to Cortina for private viewing

Date Thursday, May 30 Hotel Location Follina

Gorgeous scenery today as the race winds through the spectacular mountains to the village of Cortina. This famous ski resort hosts a World Cup ski race every year and is vying to host the Winter Olympics in the next few years. Today’s ride will cover approximately 1,500 meters of elevation gain and the long ride will be approximately 90 km.

Today will be the last chance for the climbers to make a big move in the Dolomites.  After our ride, we will have a private viewing location to eat lunch and watch the racers pass.

After the race, we will drive to Follina and check into our next hotel.  We will have a group dinner in our hotel’s excellent restaurant.

Day 05

Start Village in Treviso

Date Friday, May 31 Hotel Location Follina

Today we will explore the start village and see the start of today’s stage that will be located in the town of Treviso. We will be able to walk around the team bus area and see the racers ride to the sign in stage.

In the afternoon, we will have a shorter ride today in the countryside around Treviso. We will leave after the pros depart and ride toward Follina. There will be a few short climbs on today’s ride. This ride will be 54 km with 1,200 meters of elevation gain.

After our ride, we will head back to our hotel in Follina where you will be able to continue exploring  the area on your own and find a cool place for dinner.

Day 06

Ride through the vineyards of the Veneto region

Date Saturday, June 1 Hotel Location Verona

This morning we will ride through the vineyards of the Veneto region. Our ride will be guided by, Giovanni, the owner of the hotel where we have been staying. Giovanni is a passionate cyclist and loves to share his favorite ride with our guests!

After our ride to a favorite vineyard, we will meet up with the non-cyclists and do a tour and tasting of the Matte family prosecco. This family-run company produces an excellent prosecco that you will love.

We will make our final transfer to Verona, the setting for Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. You will be able to explore the city and find a place for dinner with some new friends.

Day 07

VIP viewing of the final stage in Verona!

Date Sunday, June 2 Hotel Location Verona

Everyone will have the morning free to explore Verona.  Although no group ride is planned, you may choose to talk to your guides about a ride this morning. They are always willing to accommodate our guests and look for every opportunity to ride that they can.

In the afternoon, we will head to the VIP area for the finish of this year’s Giro d’Italia. We will be able to view this exciting final stage finish in the Arrival Lounge VIP area. This venue is located close to the finish line and has great food and drink, TVs and comfortable seating to enjoy this experience.

After the race, we will enjoy an amazing farewell dinner with all of our new friends.

Day 08

Arrivederci

Date Monday, June 3 Hotel Location n/a

For those flying out of Milan, MXP airport, we will be departing early for an 11:00 drop or extend your stay in nearby Venice for a few more days. Safe travels to all of our new friends!
