2010 Green Jersey

July 14th to July 16th, 2010 (afternoon)

Itinerary - What's Included - Options

This trip is ideal for people:

- who do not have much time but want to have a great Tour de France experience

- who wish to extend to a trip through the Pyrenees

- Want to combine with a trip in the Alps

It includes restricted access to 3 Tour stages (#10, #11 and #12) all with preferred treatment.

This trip will allow you to see the Tour from the inside. When we mean VIP access, we mean visit of the Press rooms, Technical Zones, visits guided by a representative of the Tour de France organization, visit of the Riders Zone, meeting personalities that have marked the Tour (former Tour winners, personalities, etc...). In addition to having VIP access to a stage start and finish, you will also be able to ride the better part of stage #11 (with shorter options available) on July 15th, just a few short hours before the Yellow Jersey and the peloton. This experience will include a sag-wagon by Custom Getaways, on-course accredited vans, being escorted by an official Tour de France vehicle over the final few kms, crossing of the actual finish line and pictures of yourself on the official Tour de France Podium. Can you stand not to be part of it?

Registrations:
A 25% deposit per person is required to reserve a spot. If places are still available when we receive your application along with deposit, you will receive notification of your registration. If the trip is sold out, you will be given the option to be placed on a waiting list or choice of another trip. Waitlist order is on a first come first serve basis as well.

HAPPY BASTILLE DAY!
We will be picking up at Marseille airport (which also, now, has a train station) at noon and make our way to Gap to experience the stage finish live!

Once in Gap, thanks to our invitation bracelets will gain access the exclusive VIP Izoard hospitality area located about 50-75 yards from the finish line.

Here hostesses will serve drinks and snacks while you watch the live broadcast on Big Screen TV. After seeing the stage finish from this exclusive viewing area, champagne will be served to celebrate the stage winner. The Izoard bus is among the more exclusive areas at stage finishes and you should expect to see/meet plenty of Tour celebrities.

We will then head north on the "Route Napoleon" to get to our hotel. Those who wish to ride during the trip will be able to ride the 37km from Gap to our hotel and arrive hungry for a great dinner in of of our favorite restaurant in the area.

July 15th
Hotel Location: near Bourg de Peage - Drome region
If you've ever wondered what it might be like to ride a Tour de France stage along roads filled with spectators and raise your arms to the sky as you cross the finish-line? Today is the day it comes true!

Those who wish to ride on this trip will be able to ride the final 135km or so of today's stage. The exact ride distances will be determined once we know the itinerary ourselves. The only difficulty on the day is the col de Cabre which should be located about 115km for the finish and we'll be sure to schedule drop-offs further along the course. If some are not interested in riding at all, that will be quite feasible and you will be driven over the stage course, in order to still be able to take in all of the craziness of a Tour stage.

Custom Getaways vehicle(s) with on-course accreditation will be accompanying you and providing an extra lift if necessary, and an official Tour de France vehicle will escort us over the final few kms of the course and you will cross the finish line on closed roads.

Riding or not, everyone can then climb the official Tour podium to have your picture taken.

We'll then be able to tour the press and media/technical areas.

For the peloton's arrival, we will be directly overlooking the finish line to see how the pros stack up as we will have special access to the "Bulle Mangeas". Daniel Mangeas is the French commentator for the Tour de France ("La voix du Tour").

Our second and final overnight is in another family run establishment which also offers a great table!

July 16th
Hotel Location: n/a

For our final day "On Tour", we will be treated to the "Start Village" today in Bourg de Peage just outside Romas Sur Isere. The village should open around 10:00am or so. There, we will be greeted by a person from ASO who will show us around the area and explain how things work. Thanks to our passes, we will access the rider's area, meet some of the racers, see them warm-up, meet Directeurs Sportif, personalities, possible visit of team bus, etc.

Tour starts are often a favorite part of our trips as the interaction with the riders/teams is unparalleled.

Once the peloton is off, we will transfer you to the near TGV bullet train station of Valence .
