Eroica

L'EROICA" is not your average CycloSportive or CycloTouristic rally.

Held for the first time in 1997 it takes place on the White roads of Tuscany (strada bianche) - largely gravel roads - and offers a wonderful look back in time. Vintage bikes, feedzones, wool jerseys, pedal cages are the norm. The bikes used must be from 1987 or prior! We can help those interested in obtaining a vintage ride for the event.

Apart from the Eroica, our rides will be in the beautiful countryside of Tuscany (and more contemporary bikes are more than welcome!)

ITINERARY 2009 EROICA

Rate : $1985/person (usd) - € 1450/person

5 nights, 6 days - September 30th to October 5th

Pick-up / Drop-off at Florence airport

Day 1
September 30th, 2009

We will be picking up toward the later part of the morning in Florence Peretola (FLO). From the airport, we will make our way to the Chianti to check into our hotel.

We will assemble the bikes for those bringing their own and adjust the rental bikes. We will help those in need of assistance and we will then go for a short spin to stretch-out the legs from traveling.

In the evening, we will gather for a group aperitivo and dinner! And go over the next few days’ fun and excitement.

Day 2
October 1st, 2009

On the morning we will be riding a loop of 40 km from and to the hotel over the mythical road of the Eroica, across Tuscany hills and vineyards.

Then, we will drive to fantastic city of Siena, for lunch, visit and shopping in one of the greatest Italian town, we will later come back to the hotel.

Day 3
October 2nd, 2009

Our ride today will consist in reaching the world known village of Montalcino.

Still going through Tuscany panorama and heroic roads, our ride will be of 70 km.

There, we will have lunch, look around the typical village, and go for a exciting wine tasting in a famous winery.

We will drive back to the hotel.

Day 4
October 3rd, 2009

This morning we will have an easy 25km loop ride on vintage bikes, to check if everything is ready for the Big Day!

Afternoon, we will enjoy relax and wellness in the thermal water of the renown Spa of Rapolano Terme.

We will drive back to the hotel and have a good cyclist dinner to get ready for the Eroica!

Day 5
October 4th, 2009

Here we are! The Big day, wake up early then you will ride the course length you have chosen:

205km (112km unpaved), 135km (70km unpaved), 75km (35km unpaved) or 38km (10km unpaved). This is the Eroica, so expect vintage refreshments (yes; wine!), typical foods (cheeses, cold meat, italian bread) , vintage clothes and bikes.

October 5th, 2009

Departure and transfer to Florence Peretola airport.
