Costa Rica
Training Camp
March 3rd to 10th, 2007 |
We have put aside 15 Etape entry-only spots
which will be available to the first 15 people who book this trip (no
other entry-only spots will be offered).
"How can I
prepare for these climbs"?
This is
something we hear a lot from people who have signed up for the Etape
du Tour, Marmotte, Maratona dles Dolomites, Tour de France or other
cycling trip which involves the "big mountains".
This trip
is precisely meant to do that; jump start the cycling season and
prepare you for a big cycling event. Of course; this is Costa Rica,
and it can just as well be a nice week long getaway!
We will be spending the entire week at a beachside
resort with morning rides ranging from 2 to 5 hours and difficulty
level increasing as we get further into the week. The hardest rides
will include steep gradients and while this is still not the Alps or
the Pyrenees, we still recommend a 39 X 25 and since the season is
still early a 37 X 27 won't be out of the question either.

A Typical Day :
A typical day will include bike outings in the morning ranging from
2 to 5 hours in length. The rides can take you to elevations higher
than 2000m (6500')... and you are staying at sea level.
The afternoon will be dedicated to relaxing, having a massage,
siesta, the beach or spending time with accompanying family members
and spouses or taking excursions to visit. Mechanical
adjustments, repairs, advice, etc. will take place at the end of
afternoon or early evening if/when needed.
