info@customgetaways.com

This trip is based on 2 people traveling together and sharing a room.

July 19th

The trip starts in Nice where you will pick-up your rental car. We can arrange for other pick-up locations; simply let us know.

You will then head for your first hotel which is actually in Italy - ideally loctaed for the next few days!

This first hotel is basically at the base of the mountain top finish in Prato Nevoso on tomorrow's stage.

- July 20th -

Hotel location: near Cuneo, Italy

Tour Stage 15  /   Digne les Bains  - Prato Nevoso  /  216km (134 miles)

You are ideally located today; basically on the final climb and mountain top finish to Prato Nevoso. Taking a look at the profile of the climb, you will see the Frabosa is at the base of the climb. This is also where your hotel is located... how convenient!

- July 21st -
Hotel location: near Cuneo Italy
Tour Stage : REST DAY

The Tour takes a day off today and we will offer a few suggestions on places to see and things to do.

Many of the teams will be staying in and around Cuneo, so you will likely encounter team buses in hotel parking lots.

- July 22nd -
Hotel location: Chamrousse
Tour Stage 16  /   Cuneo  - Jausiers  /  157km (97 miles)

Getting from your hotel in Frabosa to Cuneo is simple and will alow you to see a stage start today.

Starts offer great opportunities for pictures and to mingle with the teams and racers warming up (autographs as well?). Tour starts are often a favorite part of our trips as the interaction with the riders/teams is unparalleled.

Given the geographic location of today and tomorrow's stage, there will be a bit a of drive today in order to be on site for tomorrow's all important stage.

- July 23rd -

Hotel location: Chamrousse
Tour Stage 17  /   Pau - Castelsarrasin  /  188km (117 miles)

What an exciting day this promises to be!

Today's stage will finish with the climb to Alpe d'Huez, which is most likely the world's most famous cycling climb.

A win on Alpe d'Huez is every cyclist's dream. in addition this is the final "high mountain" stage of the 2008 Tour and two other monuments of cycling - col du Galibier and col de la Croix de Fer - are also featured today.

We will give you an excellent trick to avoid the huge traffic and use our “secret” way up Alpe d’Huez....You will be able to be at the very top of the climb if you wish...

- July 24th -

Hotel location: Vichy

Tour Stage 18  /   Bourg d'Oisans - Saint Etienne  /  197km (122 miles)

From your hotel location there are a few viewing options today and we'll be sure to point these out to you.

Of course, this could be a great opportunity to enjoy a bit of R&R, enjoy a late breakfast and take your time heading to the spa resort of Vichy where you next hotel is. This is vacation after all!

Vichy is a very nice Spa town know for its sparkling waters such as Perrier or Vichy Celestin. In the 17th century the Marquise the Sevigné visited the city to receive treatment and thus started it's popularity. Louis the XV, Louis XVI and then Napoleon would visit Vichy - adding to the its notoriety.

- July 25th -

Hotel location: Vichy

Tour Stage 19  /   Roanne  -  Montlucon  /  163km (101 miles)

Once again, there are several options for today. This trip is meant to provide you with Tour viewing options daily, but also alternative activities - especially of "flat" stages such as today's stage.

Vichy is located halfway between Roanne and Montlucon, so there will be options for catching up with the race - possibly at a Feedzone.

- July 26th -

Hotel location: Paris

Tour Stage 20  /  Cerilly  - Saint Amand Montrond  /  53km (34 miles)

The all important final time trial. Typically the final chance for the Yellow Jersey contenders to battle for precious seconds!

The 2008 location of the Time Trial is very remote and while your hotel is very convenient located to gain access to the stage, heading to Paris in the evening will require a late drive ; in order to enjoy all the time trial action, we will arrange for your transfer to Paris by bus tonight.

- July 27th -

Hotel location: Paris

Tour Stage 20  /   Marcoussis  - Paris Champs-Elysees   /  130km (81 miles)

This is what every professional cyclist aspires to; the arrival of the Tour de France on the Champs-Elysees!

Who will be wearing yellow on the Champs Elysees tonight? You will find out today as you catch the arrival from the side of the "World's prettiest Avenue".

Once the Tour festivities are over, you will join us aboard our now traditional post-arrival dinner cruise on the Seine River.

Your hotel is located within walking distance of the Champs Elysees, the Grand stands and the dinner cruise.

Our position as Official Tour Operators for the Tour de France, allows us to offer seating in the Official Grand Stand seating alongside the Champs-Elysees as an option.
