"Pyrenees" Package

July 12th to July 17th

This trip covers the 3 important stages through the Pyrenees. Our hotel is ideally located and will see 2 stages at its doorstep!

Registrations:
We are now accepting registrations for our 2008 Trips. All places are on a first come first serve basis. A 25% deposit per person is required to reserve a spot. If places are still available when we receive your application along with deposit, you will receive notification of your registration. If the trip is sold out, you will be given the option to be placed on a waiting list or choice of another trip. Waitlist order is on a first come first serve basis as well. - July 12th -

Hotel location: Near Bagneres de B.

We will be picking-up at the Toulouse Airport around 1:30PM. From Toulouse, we will head to Bagneres de Bigorre.

A Custom getaways representative will meet the group at Toulouse Blagnac airport around 1:30PM. From there we will transfer to our hotel located in a village in the heart of the Pyrenees. We will only be using one hotel for the entire trip, so we can unpack the bags.

Bikes will be assembled upon arrival at the hotel.

- July 13th -

Tour Stage 9  /   Toulouse - Bagneres de Bigorre  /  222km (139 miles)

Col d'Aspin

Our hotel couldn't be in a better location as it is in the course, approximately 5km from the arrival!

Therefore a couple of viewing options will be available:

- Viewing the race at the arrival

- Viewing the race from the top of the col d'Aspin.

- July 14th -

Hotel location: Near Bagneres de B.

Tour Stage 10  /  Pau - Hautacam  /  154km (96 miles)

This is THE stage in the Pyrenees this year as it features the mountain top finish in Hautacam, and the Tourmalet as an appetizer! This stage is also relatively short, with a rest day coming after, so all the ingredients are there for an explosive stage.

Once again the race will be going by the hotel, so those who wish to ride the most can simply ride from the hotel over the col du Tourmalet and up the climb to Hautacam or stop along the way. Those less daring can also watch the race from the top of the col du Tourmalet and be back at the hotel in time to watch the peloton battle on the slopes of Hautacam!

Having such a convenient location allows for a variety of options!

This is also Bastille day and we will join the festivities in the nearby town of Bagneres de Bigorre.

After yesterday's big stage, we'll have a bit more time this morning as this is the Tour de France's first rest day.

Several ride alternatives are available today, including riding the col d'Aubisque which has been featured both in 2005 and 2007.

- July 16th -

Hotel location: Near Bagneres de B.

Starts offer great opportunities for pictures and to mingle with the teams and racers warming up (autographs as well?)

Once the stage is off, we will once again offer a variety of ride options:

1) those who wish to ride the most will be able to put in a "good day in the saddle" by going over the Port de Bales + final 10km of the col de Peyresourde + the col d'Aspin to get back to the hotel

2) Riding "just the col de Peyresourde + col d'Aspin to the hotel

3) finally riding over the col d'Aspin back to the hotel

We will gather at the hotel for a final evening and meal together.
